ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Showing of this film was on 14 January 2011 to an audience of 175 of which 92 gave feedback scores and comments which resulted in an approval rating of 77%.
The main theme from the comments was that the film was probably 20 to 30 minutes too long (run time 100 minutes) and that the choice of music was not appropriate. Additionally, factual inaccuracies noted by audience members called into question the veracity of other information in the film. A selection of the comments received are:
“Werner Hertzog spoiled his film with too many anthropormorphisms and loud angelic/religious music. Also basic factual inaccuracies eg Shackleton was trapped in the Weddell not the Ross Sea.”

THE HURT LOCKER
Showing of “The Hurt Locker” on 14 January 2011. The number of people in the audience was 170 of which 90 gave feedback scores and comments which resulted in an approval rating of 85%.
The film was the Oscar winner of 2010 and follows bomb disposal experts working in Iraq. The film is very intense and gripping as reflect by some of the comments made by the audience after the film.

PONYO
Showing on 30 April 2011 to an audience of 96, of which 59 gave feedback with a score of 75% approval rating. This was the first animation shown at the society and we also allowed children to watch the film. The general feedback was admiring of the hand drawn animation, perhaps a little too long and may be for children, although a couple thought it would be too frightening for children!
